This online, year-long class is structured by two semesters and is designed with the young reader and writer in mind. 4th grade is the time when students are not learning to read, but reading to learn and we choose books to accomplish that goal! Using literature as our backbone for ELA learning, students will learn how to identify major parts of a story, the key ingredients to proper writing and grammar, and demonstrate their learning through various writing assignments, a book project, and class presentations. The class addresses grammar, reading, and writing CA standards. Spelling and phonics standards are not covered. Assigned Work for the week: approximately 3 digital assignments each week- reading, writing, and either grammar or an additional reading skill assignment

Parent's Role In The Class: Our biggest ask is that parents check in on their student's grade and work in Google Classroom weekly so nothing is a surprise later and bolster's the learning experience as well as the accountability of students.
